Celebrating 60 Years of Scouting in Holmer Green!

Adventure – Friendship - Skills for life.

From 1966 to Today...

Founded in 1966, the 1st Holmer Green Scout Group has been a cornerstone of the local community for nearly six decades. Over the years, thousands of young people have camped under canvas, learnt new skills, and grown in confidence through Scouting. Today, we run Beaver, Cub, and Scout sections with dedicated leaders who volunteer their time and energy so that every week is an adventure. As we approach our diamond anniversary in 2025, we're celebrating six decades of memories, achievements, and the friendships that began with a simple neckerchief.

Scouting Builds Futures

Scouting has helped so many of our young people: by building confidence, developing resilience, fostering teamwork, and inspiring leadership. Our members learn to care for others and the environment, they try new activities they never thought possible, and they forge lifelong friendships. Whether they go on to camp in the Scouts, join Explorers, or become leaders themselves, Scouting shapes the adults they become and equips them with skills that last a lifetime.

Help Us Refurbish Our Scout Hut

In 2025, the 1st Holmer Green Scout Group will celebrate its 60th anniversary — six decades of adventure, friendship and personal development for thousands of young people in our community. To mark this milestone, we're aiming to raise £60,000 to refurbish our Scout Hut. We've already been overwhelmed by the generosity of our members and their families, raising over £15,000 so far — but we still have a way to go.

Your support will help us...

  • Modernise and upgrade the kitchen facilities so leaders can prepare food safely and efficiently.
  • Improve the toilets and washing facilities for the comfort of all our members.
  • Update the heating system and insulate the building properly so Scouting can continue year-round in a warm, welcoming environment.
  • Improve storage so we can better organise our growing collection of camping equipment, resources, and activities.
  • Make access improvements so that all young people, whatever their ability, can fully participate.
  • Decorate and brighten the interior with Scouting colours and imagery, inspiring every session.
  • Organise special anniversary events and camps for our members, creating unforgettable memories to mark this milestone year.

Our Scout Hut is at the heart of our weekly programme. Upgrading it means creating a space where the next generation of Scouts can thrive, just as thousands before them have.
